"Come Grow with us!"
A message from Sameer Kajani~President of the Squamish Chamber of Commerce.
“Carpe Diem”
Wow! We are ushering the New Year 2010 and most of us are preparing for the largest sports competition in the world, the Winter Olympics. Over the years the Squamish Chamber of Commerce have hosted numerous workshops and seminars (i.e. Tooling up for 2010, guest speakers at luncheons, procurement and business success workshops) to assist you in being better informed on how to take advantage of the upcoming Olympic games. Much has been said, of late, of what Squamish has not received due to the Olympics, but I think it is time for us to embrace this opportunity and be the best we can be. There are always challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions, we need to seize the day (as cliché as it may sound). So, I ask that you take this opportunity to let Squamish shine and be proud of our beautiful surroundings, our strong sense of community and our hospitable nature. There was a fine example of this in the media recently with the family whose accommodation fell through but the community answered! This is what makes us special and makes me proud to belong to the community of Squamish. So I say Carpe Diem and let us shine, the world will take notice if we act!
The Squamish Chamber works to serve its members and strives to uphold our mission: dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the community by actively supporting business, economic growth and diversification. If you have any suggestions on how to better serve you, please get involved and voice your opinion. We are all volunteers working with Chamber staff to further develop the Chamber and its members.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank several people who continue to make the Chamber a vibrant place. The outgoing board members for all of their hard work and dedication over their term, the staff and Chamber Manager Victoria Rigdon (currently on maternity leave) for their tremendous efforts of going above and beyond. To our new board and returning Chamber Manager, Kenny Music along with the entire Chamber team - a very warm welcome to you all. I look forward to working with you. Happy New Year all the best in 2010!
Allow yourself to be inspired. Allow yourself to succeed. Dare to excel.
