Our Collective Voice

our collective voice

By uniting the collective voice of our many members, we ensure that the business community is considered in major decisions considering Squamish.

Each year, we conduct a survey to understand the issues of importance to our membership. In 2017, our membership highlighted the need for collaboration to foster the local economy, marketing and promotional opportunities, and resources to assist with business growth. Issues of concern included housing affordability, regional transit, economic development and growth management.

Members receive up-to-date information on issues and changes that may affect your business.

We are pleased to share some current initiatives:

  • The Squamish Chamber received funding from the BC Rural Dividend to enhance the Chamber website, creating an economic hub with access to various resources, such as data, business development tools and funding sources to help start or grow your business. The business listings have been improved to promote members, and communication tools have been improved to showcase why Squamish is a great place for business.
  • The Squamish Chamber has collaborated with the District of Squamish and Tourism Squamish to enhance our data and create an educational/training program. This partnership was also made possible thanks to funding from the BC Rural Dividend.
  • The Squamish Chamber is a key partner in Squamish’s Economic Development Steering Group, and is involved in many other past and current committees, including Brand Development, Digital Strategy and Wayfinding. Our presence on these committees ensures the voice of the business community, and our members, is being voiced and heard.
  • The Squamish Chamber attends the annual BC Chamber of Commerce AGM to present or support policy recommendations that affect our business community and the health of the Squamish economy.
