Empowering the Next Generation of Business Leaders
At the Squamish Chamber of Commerce, we believe the future of our community lies in the hands of today’s youth. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Capilano University and Howe Sound Secondary School on the Emerging Entrepreneurs Program — an initiative designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and introduce students to the world of business and entrepreneurship.
This program is about more than just business plans and pitch decks. It’s about planting the seeds of innovation and equipping young minds with real-world skills. Through mentorship, community connection, and experiential learning, students gain a firsthand understanding of what it takes to turn an idea into action — and why entrepreneurial thinking matters, regardless of career path.
YOUTH CONNECT: PRACTICE, FEEDBACK , AND REAL-WORLD NETWORKING
Leading up to the big pitch is Youth Connect — a dynamic speed networking event where students sit down with local business leaders to share their early-stage ideas and receive real-time feedback. This unique experience is also about helping students develop professional networking skills, build confidence in one-on-one conversations, and learn how to engage with mentors and potential supporters.
THE YOUTH PITCH: THE GRAND FINALE
The highlight of the program is the Youth Pitch, a high-energy, high-impact event where students present their fully developed business ideas to a panel of judges, their peers, parents, and community members. Held at Capilano University’s Squamish campus, this final showcase challenges students to communicate clearly, think on their feet, and confidently sell their ideas — all while building critical presentation and public speaking skills that will serve them well into the future.

Why it Matters
Entrepreneurship fosters creativity, problem-solving, and resilience — essential skills for success in any industry. By introducing these concepts in high school, we’re helping students see themselves as creators, leaders, and changemakers. The program creates meaningful connections between students and the local business community, inspiring the next generation of Squamish entrepreneurs.
A Powerful Partnership
This program wouldn’t be possible without the generous support and collaboration of Capilano University and Howe Sound Secondary School. Collectively, we’re building a bridge between education and business, empowering students with real-world experience, practical skills, and the inspiration to pursue their passions.
Community Supporters of this Semester’s Cohort
As Squamish continues to grow, we’re proud to invest in our youth — helping them take their very first steps toward entrepreneurship, right here in their own community.
We’re proud to recognize the Fall 2026 cohort winners of our Emerging Entrepreneurs Program, Bretton Winstanley of Nails By Bretton and Eloria Surendra of Second Selections Curated Style & Thrift.
Both entrepreneurs stood out for their creativity, dedication, and passion for personalized, thoughtfully curated experiences, Bretton as a talented nail artist bringing bold, custom designs to life from her own studio, and Eloria through a unique thrifted fashion subscription service that delivers style with intention, sustainability, and a personal touch.
