The Salted Vine

Squamish Success Stories: Food & Beverage

Located in downtown Squamish, The Salted Vine offers a contemporary and inspired taste of the Pacific Northwest and an upscale dining experience in the heart of Squamish. The menu of share plates places a premium on fresh, sustainable and seasonal ingredients, an expertly curated beverage program and modern-country farmhouse décor that reflects the hardworking spirit of the local community.

Squamish is experiencing significant growth in both population and household income, which made it the perfect location for industry veterans and long-time colleagues Jeff Park and Pat Allan to establish The Salted Vine. Jeff and Pat, who lead the team as Executive Chef and Restaurant Director/Sommelier, met while working at Araxi Restaurant and Oyster Bar in Whistler. As residents of Squamish, they recognized that the growing community was ready for an upscale dining experience and launched The Salted Vine in 2016.

The Salted Vine’s dining room and lounge is located in the oldest building in Squamish. The design pays homage to Squamish’s early railway and logging pioneers, while recognizing Squamish’s growing and vibrant community and connection to the outdoors. Local businesses and talent contributed to the design, with custom milled wood details from the Squamish Valley and local artwork and Squamish artisan dishware featured in the restaurant. Produce from local farms is used as much as possible, contributing to a strong sustainable and community-minded operation.

Since opening, The Salted Vine has become a firm favourite, voted Best New Restaurant (Where to Dine Awards), Ten Best New Restaurants (Vancouver Sun), Ten Best New Restaurants (Vancouver Province) and Top 30 New Restaurants in Canada (EnRoute Magazine).

The success of The Salted Vine stems from the experience and passion of its leaders, who recognized that Squamish was ready for a new dining experience and then delivered on that promise. Squamish is a vibrant community, with one of the youngest populations in BC. Many professionals and families are moving to Squamish from Vancouver, attracted by the lifestyle and community – a small town feel with access to big city services. The Salted Vine saw the growth opportunity but also stays true Squamish roots, offering a “charming farm-to-table restaurant…with the rustic polish of a Brooklynized neighbourhood” – Alexander Gill, The Globe & Mail.

"The secret is out. Squamish is one of the best places to live and work in BC. The recent growth in our community created an opportunity for us to fulfill our dream of opening a contemporary restaurant in downtown Squamish, and to live and work right here in the community. If you are looking for a balanced life in a community full of growth and opportunity, there is no better place to open a business than Squamish."
