2020/21 Directors Voted to Squamish Chamber of Commerce

Squamish, B.C. –Squamish Chamber of Commerce members have elected four incumbent directors and seven newcomers to the 2020/21 Board of Directors.

The Squamish Chamber of Commerce is very pleased to announce that the following eleven candidates have been elected to the Board of Directors for a one-year term.

– Jack Montpellier, Race and Company LLP

– Rajan Hans, Diamond Head Security Group 

– Catherine Webster, Sea to Sky Gondola 

– Cameron Cope, Our Squamish 

– Susan Chapelle, Aligned Collective

– Nolan Rivers, RE/MAX Sea to Sky Real Estate 

– Jacquie Menezes, 7th Wave Consulting 

–Carlos Zavarce, Matthews West Development Ltd.

–Clive Stanley, Sandman Hotel and Suites

 

“Welcome to all new and returning directors. It is great to see the diverse and strong representation from the Squamish business community. We look forward to all the future successes and championing of economic vitality in Squamish for 2020 and beyond,” said 2019 Board President, Rob Weys. “I would also like to thank each of the candidates who put their name forward to serve on the Squamish Chamber Board of Directors.” he added.

 

This year the new board was announced at the online Squamish Chamber of Commerce AGM June 17th at 6:00 PM via Zoom. A swearing-in ceremony will be conducted at a later date, most likely online. Squamish Chamber members will be invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony, celebrating the new and returning directors and the business community as a whole.  

 

“The Squamish Chamber would also like to recognize and thank former directors, Christine Campbell, Allie Meeres, Hilary Ewart, Bianca Peters, Maxime Charron, and Rob Weys, for their many valuable contributions to the board this last term,” said Executive Director, Louise Walker. 

 

“Over the last few years, the Squamish Chamber has seen strong growth, with expanded events and networking, along with the creation and development of many programs, including business training, support local campaigns, data, and other tools to grow your business. We could not have achieved this success without the support and dedication of our Board of Directors.” She added. 

 

In the last three years, Squamish Chamber membership has grown 32%. New programming, increased event attendance, and grant funding has supported reinvestment back into Chamber services. As with all businesses, the Squamish Chamber has adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. Online events and training are being developed, along with marketing and communication to support the local business community.

 

“The Squamish Chamber is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the community by actively supporting business, economic growth, and diversification. We will continue to deliver exceptional membership value through our programming and services, albeit through new channels as we adjust to the current new normal,” said Walker

 

The Squamish Chamber of Commerce is governed by an eleven-member Board of Directors, all of whom are elected. Each member of the Board volunteers their expertise, time, and knowledge to support the Chamber and the Squamish business community.
