We are pleased to share Focusing Forward, 2022-2023 Policy and Positions Manual (Focusing Forward) which contains 55 policy statements and positions adopted by the BC Chamber of Commerce at the provincial association’s 70th Annual General Meeting and Conference on June 7-9, 2022, in Prince George. Louise Walker, Squamish Chamber Executive Director, attended the conference in Prince George to represent the Squamish community.
The BC Chamber of Commerce’s policy development process is a grassroots-driven process that engages local BC Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade – including the Squamish Chamber – in the development, debate and approval of policies and reflect the needs of small, medium and large businesses from every corner of the province. This year’s policy development process was as fulsome as ever and has resulted in a robust and comprehensive set of policies that we are bringing forward. The broad scope of issues that are reflected in this year’s manual extends from taxation to Indigenous reconciliation to health care to resource development and infrastructure.
The policies contained in the manual are directed towards the provincial and federal governments. Along with the two previous years’ policy manuals, Focusing Forward will serve as a guide for the BC Chamber of Commerce’s advocacy efforts over the next 12 months.
